BIKE RIDERS INTRODUCES NEW FAMILY & WALKING ITINERARIES FOR 2005
(January 27, 2005) Boston, Mass. - Bike Riders, the adventure travel company known for its distinctive bicycle vacations, is expanding to add new Family and Walking Adventures for 2005. Ideal for those wishing to travel with their children or see breathtaking countryside under the power of their own two feet, these new trips feature the outstanding routes, 4 and 5 star inns and celebrated dining that Bike Riders is known for. These new trips add to the company's list of popular biking trips to New England, the Canadian Maritimes, Ireland, Italy, France and Spain.
Four New Adventures Designed Specifically for Families
Children who bike can now join their parents on trips to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket, Ireland's Western Shore, the Veneto region of Italy, and the Loire Valley "Chateaux Country" in France. Bike Riders Family Adventures are geared for children aged 6 to 16 with extra trip leaders, special family activities, and local fare and menus that appeal to younger palates. "Our Family trips feature extraordinary, knowledgeable leaders who love kids and make sure everyone is looked after," said Lorenzo De Monaco, Director of Bike Riders. "When children are traveling we place extra emphasis on safety, while making sure everyone is having a vacation to remember, whether they're biking or touring castles or visiting a French pastry shop." To make biking manageable for younger children, Bike Riders provides burley trailers, which attach to adult bikes. Depending on age and accommodations, children on Bike Riders Family Adventures travel at 15% to 20% off the published trip cost for adults.
In 2005, "Island Hopping on The Vineyard and Nantucket" is offered 7/17-22 and 7/31-8/5. The trip to "Ireland's Mystical Western Shore" is offered 7/17-23 and 8/14-20. "Dolce Vita in the Veneto" is offered 7/10-15 and 7/31-8/5. "The Lavish Loire" is offered 7/13-15 and 8/10-12.
New Walking Adventures to Maine, Italy, Ireland and France
For those who prefer to slow the pace and step away from the crowds, Bike Riders now offers five walking itineraries: "Maine: Walking Acadia", "Dreams of Tuscany," "Fabled Towns and Footpaths in Umbria", "Town and Country Pleasures in Ireland", and "Promenade in Provence." From historic carriage trails to Tuscany's strade bianche or white gravel lanes lined with cypress trees, Bike Riders Walking Adventures lead travelers off the beaten path. As with its biking trips, Bike Riders limits its walking vacations to no more than sixteen travelers, to ensure that each guest enjoys a rich give-and-take with the locals, such as winemakers and artisans. "Our small size ensures we can go where larger tours cannot," explained De Monaco. "Over the years we've built excellent relationships with the owners of small, yet exclusive, 4 and 5 star inns, restaurateurs, family farms, and local craftspeople. As a result, we can offer our travelers a chance to stay in a 15th century estate, cruise on a private boat, visit an artist at work in his studio, sample the first pressing of the olives, or dine on the fresh catch of the day straight from the fishermen's nets."
Each trip covers approximately 4 to 12 miles per day through the best the region has to offer, including woodland nature preserves, olive groves, vineyards, medieval villages, and emerald pastures.
In 2005 Bike Riders Walking Adventures are offered from June to October.
