Rugged splendor and untainted beauty adorn the North Coast of Cape Breton Island. We explore this captivating region of natural beauty and rich cultural history via Canada's grandest and most breath taking route, the Cabot Trail. Scotch pines, high granite cliffs and Celtic tradition mark this pristine wilderness and make the island such a noble and welcoming region of Canada.
• French Acadian culture, arts and crafts
• Spectacular views of the Gulf of St. Lawrence
• Whale watching on Pleasant Bay
• Guided hike through Cape Breton Highlands National Park
• Ceilidh, a musical gathering of Scottish Gaelic Highlanders
Day 1, 2 & 3 Baddeck & Isle of Iona
We ferry out to the Isle of Iona for some picturesque cycling along the shoreline of the Bras d'Or Lakes. After visiting Highland Village, a living history museum, we enjoy a private tour around the Bras d'Or Lakes with Captain Syl. Next, we cycle around Lake Ainslie before ending our day by kicking off our shoes and dancing to a Ceilidh, a musical gathering of Scottish Gaelic Highlanders.

• Two nights at The Inverary Resort, a 19th c. resort overlooking the Bras d’Or Lakes.
• One night at The Glenora Inn set on 300 acres and home to the only single malt whisky distillery in North America.
Day 4 & 5 Cape Breton Highlands National Park
The majesty of Cape Breton comes alive as we hug the windswept highlands rising out of the sparkling waters of the Gulf of St. Lawrence. We enjoy the folk arts and crafts in the fishing village of Cheticamp before biking into Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Our naturalist guides us on a spectacular seaside walk to White Point, where we see fishermen plying their trade. Later, we join Captain Danny on his ketch for a viewing of minke and pilot whales in the waters of the St. Lawrence Bay.

• Tucked between a sandy ocean beach and a boreal forest, The Markland Resort welcomes us for two nights.
Day 6 & 7 Ingonish & Cape Smokey
We pedal along Aspy Bay en route to the fishing village of Neils Harbour. Further down the coast we cool ourselves in Black Brook Cove, where granite cliffs and an ocean front forest cradle the beach. Our final evening is rewarded with commanding views of the Atlantic from our hillside resort on Middle Head Peninsula.

• Overnight at The Keltic Lodge, a Tudor-style inn perched on cliffs overlooking the sea.
