Celebrating the region's wholesome fare, from coq au vin to tarte au citron. Burgundy, best known for its honest country cooking and world famous wines, is also the birthplace of many of the world's greatest chefs. Matt & Kate Jennings, of La Laiterie in Rhode Island join Bike Riders in France to show us all the rich and earthy cuisine Burgundy has to offer. Our menus include classic French favorites such as escargots de Bourgogne, Charolais beef and poulet de Bresse, and of course the region's sublime Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines.
• Biking through the vineyards of the Côte de Nuits
• Visit to a tonnelerie to see craftsmen build oak barrels for wine production
• Shopping in the open air chef's market at Chalon-sur-Saône
• Preparing Burgundian specialties such as coq au vin and poulet de Bresse with our guest chef
Highlights of our week include:
Shop for local ingredients at the famous weekly chefs market in Chalon. We then spend an afternoon in the kitchen on the wooded grounds of a beautiful 18th c. château preparing Burgundian specialties, including cheese gougeres, quail with butternut squash & cèpes and roasted white peaches with crème fraiche.

Bike to a tonnelerie to watch the craftsmen build and burnish oak barrels for aging the region’s world famous wines.

A tasting in the Côte de Beaune village of Puligny-Meutrachet, an optional visit to the superb Château de la Rochepot, and a tour and tasting at the Morin cellars in Nuits-St. Georges.

Dining in splendor at the 3 star Michelin restaurant Lameloise.

A gourmet picnic of local specialties, including jambon persillé, pâté de campagne and locally produced Chambertin, Cîteaux, Époisses and Soumaintrain cheeses.

A behind-the-scenes visit to our favorite patisserie to learn the techniques of chocolate making and to indulge in pain au chocolat and tarte au citron.

Our routes follow the Route des Grands Crus through such illustrious wine villages as Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, Meursault, Volnay and Pommard.

• Hotels include the renowned Relais and Château Lameloise and the Hôtel le Cep.
