A tapestry of art and nature blankets the green hills and broad valleys of the Northern Berkshires and Southern Vermont. Amid dairy farms, covered bridges and white steeples we encounter both the colonial and the contemporary. A cradle of culture tucked into the heart of New England, these historic regions proudly blend quaint villages, country roads and spectacular fall foliage with world-class art centers, museums and galleries.

Day 1 & 2 Massachusetts
We begin in the less-traveled North County of The Berkshires, where Mass MoCA,the nation's largest contemporary art museum, is steering the revitalization of the quiet mill town of North Adams. Our ride leads into the college village of Williamstown, across the Appalachian Trail and through the sweeping valleys that surround Mount Greylock, the state's highest peak.
• Two nights at The Porches, a contemporary property linking six distinctively restored 1890's row homes.
|
Day 3 Vermont
The day starts with Renoir, Degas and Monet at the Clark Art Institute before we cycle across the border and into Southern Vermont. Nestled between the Taconic and Green Mountains, Bennington County welcomes us with age-old covered bridges, general stores, antiques and a landscape that has inspired such American icons as Norman Rockwell, Grandma Moses and Robert Frost.
• Overnight at The Henry House, a landmark inn overlooking the Walloomsac River.
|
Day 4, 5 & 6 Manchester, Arlington & Dorset
Today we cycle through quintessential rural Vermont with its dairy farms, red barns and stately sugar maples. We visit Hildene, the 412-acre estate of Robert Todd Lincoln, the Norman Rockwell Exhibition and the villages of Arlington and Dorset. In Manchester we can canoe the Battenkill River, take in the American Museum of Fly-Fishing or visit the Southern Vermont Arts Center, Vermont's oldest cultural organization.
• Two nights at The Reluctant Panther, a beautiful inn located at the base of Mt Equinox.
